As the school year is coming to a close and vacation is right around the corner, I wanted to bring to your attention a great summer musical opportunity right here in Flint. Dr. Heidenreich recently came into the school to talk with the band classes about the UM-Flint Chamber Music Clinic, and I strongly believe this would be beneficial for all students in the band program. Here is a link to the website for more information about the clinic:

We are proud to have a committed, enthusiastic group of students who are involved in the music making process. These musical ambassadors are a source of pride for our band, school and community. An equal source of pride is the band’s parent support group. These dedicated parents and friends have given unselfishly of their time and talents to provide enrichment experiences for the students involved in our program. During the course of the marching band season, our band parents make a difference. Annual projects help raise needed funds to offset the cost involved in travel, equipment and related educational expenses. Our band parents also help manage uniforms maintenance and distribution, assist with transport and set-up of equipment, serve as chaperones, and the list goes on! On Thursday, May 16th, at 8:00pm in the East High School Commons, the Grand Blanc Band Boosters and the band directors, will be meeting to discuss with all NEW marching band parents, upcoming band events and support activities. This annual meeting is designed for YOU, new marching band parents, to be introduced to the booster organization and answer any questions that you have about the program. This meeting will begin with a short presentation by the directors and a few booster parents, and then will be open for questions. The meeting should not last more than an hour. Please try to clear your calendar and attend. We will also be distributing band camp packets at this time if you did not get one. This is your personal invitation to come out and renew an old friendship or make a new one. Come and experience first-hand the sense of community that develops as involved parents and friends support the activities of their children.
