Where has time gone? Tomorrow, our 2014 gratuates will walk down the isle and be recognised for their hard work, and to receive their high school diploma. We are so proud of their work and accomplishments, and they will be deeply missed. In an effort to honor them on their special day, each GBHS Instrumental Music senior will be posted on our Facebook page. Starting at 8am, and continuing every half hour, we will post each students senior picture, their GBHS Music resume and their future plans. We hope that you enjoy our simple way of honoring each student. CONGRATULATIONS class of 2014!
Cedar Point Chaperones Needed - June 18

Graduation Chaperones Needed - May 29th
The Wind Ensemble and Symphonic bands play together for the GBHS Graduation. We still need parent volunteers to chaperone the evening performance. Times are from 5:30 pm to approximately 10pm. Slots are available on Charms to sign up.

Marching Band Paperwork Reminders
Due to still using the current school year Band Booster Budget, the checks coming in for Band Camp will not be able to be deposited into our account until July. We have all checks attached to the student paperwork until then. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you.
New Dinner Committee Chairs
Thank you to Mr. Stuck and Mrs. Hubbard for volunteering to chair the Dinner Committee! We very much look forward to working with you.
New Fundraising Committee
We have many fundraising activities throughout the year to help with Marching Band, the Day Bands, Auxiliary Bands, and individual student accounts. We are also looking at the possibility of new uniforms for Marching Band and the Day Bands. We are looking for motivated parents interested in helping with current fundraising events, and creating and implementing new events. Band Booster Spirit Wear
The Band Booster spirit wear is on sale! Many of you asked for a baseball cap, and it has been added. An order form will be emailed to you with a copy of the new flyer. Also, the flyer is on the Instrumental Dept. website. The clothing is also in Charms for those who would like to order that way.
Many of you know about Scrip. The process of selling cards from various retailers throughout our area. We purchase the cards at a discount and sell them at face value thus making a profit for our band!! Please see the Charms store for availability!! It’s easy to make a purchase online, send in the payment with your student, and the order will be filled the next day! Thank you for making Scrip a part of your weekly needs!! Our kids will really benefit from your purchases!!
This is a reminder that the band has spirit wear available in our Charms store! Several items are available for immediate purchase such as t-shirts, sweatshirts, scarves, travel coffee mugs, stickers, etc!! Even though the official sale has ended, there are still cards available to sell! Please see Mr. Hutchison if you would like to check more cards out to sell! After you have sold the first five cards, you can beginning earning a profit that will go directly into your Charms account!

The initial order window for Booster clothing will be until June 6. We will submit orders then. There will be another opportunity to order in August.
You can now order your BOOSTER SPIRITWEAR IN THE CHARMS STORE. Order online, print out your order, and have your student put the order in the Scrip box in the band room.
Don’t forget to mark your calendars for the MB parent meeting on Thursday, May 22 at 8pm. This meeting is for both new and returning parents. There is new information so please plan to attend.
The Spring Concert this past Wednesday was wonderful. Concert and Symphonic bands, and Wind Ensemble all performed with the usual excellence. Thank you Mr. Hutchison and Mr. Finkbeiner. Thank you to the parents who brought baked goods for intermission.
Jazz Night was a wonderful success! Cheers to the 3 O’clock and 4 O’clock bands, and the Jazz Combo who performed with superior musicianship, and especially to Mr. Finkbeiner whose excellence brought it together.
The performances were exceptional, and played to an enthusiastic crowd. We had 10 local companies sponsor tables for the event, and 298 spectators who came out to enjoy an evening of music. This was the result of the hard work of Stacey Tyckoski! She worked for months organizing and setting this night up, and she did a fantastic job. THANK YOU STACEY! And a big thank you to the student and parent volunteers who worked the event, and for the many desserts that were donated.
The GBHS Band Boosters would like to remind you of our NEW and EASY way to order CASH & CARRY SCRIP from the band program. All scrip order through the band program provides FREE MONEY to the program that offers many positive opportunities for you child. The more funds we can raise, the less you have to pay out of your pocket. One of our goals is to provide the best possible experience with the funds available.
Our Scrip Goal = You receive your paid order THE NEXT DAY! That’s right … for example, if you order on Monday, you get your scrip on TUESDAY! How easy is that?
This is how it works...
#1 Log into Charms (login code is grandblancband, password is your student's id#)
#2 Put together your scrip order by following the instructions
#3 When you are done with your order, give your payment (cash or check) to your student and have them turn it into Mr. Hutchison. (Please put “for scrip order” in the memo of the check.)
#4 Once your payment has been received, your completed order will be given to your student that day.
#5 DONE! Yes it is that easy!
We believe that our SCRIP PROGRAM can be one of the main source of income for our program. To make this work, we need YOU to make this work. The best part about scrip is that it does not take any money out of your pocket. If you order $50 of scrip, you get $50 of product!
This letter is an invitation to you, your family and friends to attend the GBHS Instrumental Music Program’s Spring Concert on Wednesday, May 7th, at 7pm in the Howard Pepper Auditorium. The concert will feature a variety of musical selections and admission to the concert is free.
Our band members have been working hard in ensemble rehearsals, sectionals and through individual practice to prepare this music for your entertainment and enjoyment. I know the students will give their best efforts as performers and hope that you, as audience members, will help provide the students with a true concert atmosphere.
